About Us

Originally from Buckinghamshire, we moved to the beautiful village of Dunster about 10 years ago.

Visit us at Dunster Steep

Dunster is a quintessentially English, chocolate box village, overlooked by the stunning spectacle of Dunster Castle. Having run a successful Tea Room and Traditional Sweet Shop in the past, our dream was to have an Old Fashioned Sweet Shop in this lovely village we have come to call home. But finding suitable premises has not been easy, so when this small unit next to Dunster Steep came along we snapped it up, and so was born the Little Box of Delights.

Being on the edge of the village right next to the main car park is a great location for our shop. Coach parties pop in and many conversations started over our glittering array of traditional jars of sweets, every jar is a memory for someone and an exciting discovery for many a younger visitor. School children return again and again to pick their own bags of pocket money sweets; flying saucers, black jacks, fruit salads, chocolate bananas, chocolate tools, traffic light lollies and of course the strawberry and cola laces!

Walkers buy sweets to keep them going on their travels, a quarter of (although officially 100 grams) Kendal Mint Cake or Fox’s glacier mints, humbugs, Coltsfoot Rock, Barley sugar and Floral Gums. The local community call in and support us, they too have their own favourites and although we are a fairly new shop, after a couple of months some of our stock is disappearing at lightning speed – the proof of the pudding as the saying goes.

Our cut and serve fudge and the recently added Roly’s fudge are certainly popular with visitors – locally made in the traditional way, our slabs or chunks of fudge of various flavour can be weighed and put into our bags for quick eating or into our lovely gift boxes as gifts.

So next time you are in Dunster, look us up. You will get a warm welcome anytime.
